Body control module replacement

I have an 02 grand prix 3.8 gt model. I have had several of these cars and never had this problem before where the bcm needs replaced apparently. I was debating on getting a used one or buying a new one? also, was wondering if there is a way around the dealer programming them or can mine be repaired/cleaned? Just not sure the best thing to do with economics considered.
