Blower Motor/Resistor woes

So for the 4 years I have owned this car I have gone through 3 replacement blower motors and had to replace the resistor twice. Once due to water leakage (which has been fixed). Not two months ago I started having issues of the motor working intermittently and I found a TSB online about installing a capacitor inline before the resistor to fix supposed voltage spikes coming from the wiper motors. Replaced the resistor as well as installing the capacitor and everything was working fine but now I am having the same intermittent issue. If I give the resistor a tap it starts working again but only for a few seconds. Tapping the motor does nothing and it works fine with external power supplied to it. Any clues as to what may be causing these issues?
 


mine wasn't the resistor itself, but the wires leading up to it. check to see if they need replacing, or in the connector is corroded. (since it seems like in your thread that the resistor had contact with water)
 
The resistor did come into contact with water and went up in a fit of rage and smoke. It has been replaced and come to think of it, the connector did seem to be in a bit of a sorry state when I replaced it but I didn't think too much of it as it was working fine for about 2 months. But I will have to look into it. Thanks for the idea.
