Blower motor OR blower motor resistor

DDK

hey guyz i have a 97 gtp. i kno my resistor was goin bad cause since i've had the car only the 5th level of the fan has worked. just the other day i smelled what i think was an electrical burn but just for a second litterally...then noticed my fan wasnt working. now i have no heat! cause none of the levels work!!! do u think that the resistor just took a total ****? or it might be my blower??? any help is appreciated thx!

could be both. or just the resistor. since you need to take the motor out to get to the resistor to change it anyway. when you pull the motor out leave it plugged in and turn the ac on. see if it spins or not. id change the resistor first cuz its the cheapiest new motor is about 100 bucks or more i think. i dont remember what i paid for mine a month ago.

id say resistor and you can change the resistor with out removing the blower motor if you get up in there with a swivel socket. i paid 29 for the resistor at autozone.

What you need to do is diagnose the problem. Check for 12 volts and a good ground at the 2 pin plug in at the blower motor. If you have power and ground it's the blower motor that is bad. If you don't it's probably the resistor- however you should test for power going into the resistor as well. Keep in mind it could be a bad blower motor switch.
