Blinker issues - How do I know if it's the blinker springs?

Hello. I'm having an issue with my blinkers in my 96 Grand Prix SE. First, they were hard to push down, and sometimes they would just stay on (as in, not blink when the blinker was down). Then, they would blink, but neither side would cancel. Now what happens is the left blinker will only work when I hold it half way down, and if I go all the way down it will just stay on, not blink. The right side works perfectly though.

So basically, does this sound like it would be the springs in the turn signal switch (a $3 replacement)? Or do I have to get a whole new switch? I would just prefer to know before I go through the trouble of pulling the steering wheel and all that good stuff.

Thanks!

Just replace the whole switch, they are very well known to go bad on your model and make of car along with every other W-Body car.
