hey well last night i was messing around with some friends, as my car was shifting into 3rd, instead of shifting, it just revved at 6000rpm real funny, then i just let off the gas and coasted. I start hearing this rattling noise coming from the engine area, then the oil pressure light, and battery light come on. As i start to pull over the power steering went. I got it towed to my house and the next morning tried to start it and drive it to a auto repair place a couple of blocks from my house, but it instantly died. So i got i towed again and now i patiently wait as they work on my car. They said maybe i blew a belt tensioner or something. What do you guys think? any ideas?

Ummm, not to be a buzzkill but 99% of the time the low oil pressure light comes on in these cars...means its toast.

well if a belt went that explains the loss of powersteering and the batt light oil light on the other hand i the scary one good luck

I'd bet that the power steering went out, battery light and low oil pressure light came on after the engine stalled. Odd how that happens. Anyone that's ever tried to drive a car with the igntiion key in run and the engine off, experiences those exact same things. Reason being is the car is designed to do this stuff.

On the start and stall, that could be a lot of things. On the revving in third, I'd say you pooched your transmission.

Adding in a bit of sarcasm here, and some reality...have one of your buddies take you to the drug store because you need to buy a large tub of KY for the total repair bill you are looking at.

my guess is that engine is a goner. The exact same thing happened to me when mine went, however I got it to run for about 5 minutes after the incident. well, it technically ran, but it was knocking like crazy and i was an idiot and didn't shut it off. turns out it ran for those 5 min with little to no oil as the cause of death was the oil pump going.

Seriously that bad eh? s***!! lol. well i took it to the car shop and they said i blew my head gasket....$1500 canadian :th_shakinghead2:

Sucks you blew the HG. That can be fixed. What would worry me is the rattling the motor made before it shut off. Hope you didn't bend a rod or something if you leaked too much coolant into a cylinder.

When you tried starting it to get it to the repair shop, did it make any strange noises then, before instantly dying?

no it sounded fine. It started then instantly started to sputter for about 3 seconds then died. When you say rod, are you talking about the connecting rod?

ya connecting rod he means lol, but if it sounded fine you should be alright. just make sure ur new gaskets are in aluminum the plastic ones are such crap!!
