Any suggestions on what type of speakers i should get for the doors and rears in a 99 gtp sedan? I already have 2 kenwood 10" subs in the trunk and a new pioneer head unit. I like my music to have a nice full sound to and would like to be able to get some base out of the new ones instead of them just being tweeters to my subs. Also, i dont wanna spend toooo much money but am willing to pay the price for quality products as long as their worth it. Thanks, Rich

Also the measurments are 5" 1/2 and 6"x9" right?

I have an alpine headunit an all alpine type s components the 6x9s are triple coaxial an the 5 1/2 are 2 way coaxials picked them up at best buy for not a real bad price for the whole set. They sound really nice. And they push some decent bass. Awhile back i forgot i unhooked my subs and didn't even realize it for a few days because the spearkers were pushing so well. I personally like the quality and sound of alpine and would recommend them to anyone but thats just my .02.

i paid like $70 for my 2 pairs of alpine type s's just the regular loud speaker no components 6x9's in the rear and 5 1/4's in the front. Got the alpine head unit too They tend to distort and only sound a little better than factory. I might end up getting the type R components.

Get the components they sound really nice. I wasn't all that impressed with the type R when i heard them but i dont think they had them set up right. Wasn't impressed with the type R subs either even though i know they r supposed to be really good. I think best buy had somethin not right when i was there. Honestly i think i ought to be the one doin their installs and sound boards cause i don't think any of the people workin at the one in my town really know wtf they are doin

Alpine Type S, although rather mainstream, do offer some nice sounding speakers and can be found pretty cheap. My brother and my buddy have P1 Rockford components in their GP's and they sound alright. I'm also a fan of of Boston Acoustics and Diamond Audio but their entry level stuff is a little more retail but does have better value over Alpine or Rockford. Check Ebay.

EDIT: checked ebay and they seem to have mostly 6.5" components which can be modded a bit to fit but offer better mid range.

Pioneers are decent just get the right ones. I highly suggest you stay away from sony xplod for sure. Other than that pioneer alpine kenwood infinity rockford are the ones you probably wanna look at. If your lookin to spend a little more theres diamond polk kicker an some of those highdollar names

Well pioneer is probably gonna be closer to your range i would say. Just gotta look around. You may be able to find alpines and others cheaper. Don't just jump into a buy shop around a little. You will find most of them at best buy circuit city places like that but their prices are mostly not gonna be in your range all depends which ones you choose. Online you can prob find them a bit closer to your range. If your gonna go pioneer i suggest you take a trip to walmart as well because they often have some nice ones for a decent price. Sometimes best buy has speakers in sale boxes returned an stuff sitting on a table. check those out as well. But be sure to check them closely. If they have them out of the box locked in a clear case thing ask them to take them out so you can look at them. i say this because once i was gonna buy a set outta one of those boxes but made them let me look first which was a good thing because one of the cones had a big slice in it. so i say look around a bit find whats in your range with the best sound. try them all out on the sound boards with a few different songs maybe even take a cd of what you like then you can really get a feel for them and then make your decision. And watch what you buy if you go for the clear boxes at best buy if they even have any. sometimes they do sometimes they dont.

also, with my pioneer head unit, which i believe has a 52x4 amp will i need a supplemental amplifier? or can i get clean sound without one?

I HATE memphis butttt honestly, you probably won't be disappointed

:th_shakinghead2: memphis has really good stuff granted they have lower end stuff just like any other company... not to mention their warranties effin rock...i fried my amp a year after i got it...due to my error when reinstalling in my gtp...i had a brand new amp 2 weeks later...didnt even have to pay for shipping
