Battery Problems

About a month ago, I turned my key and nothing came on. Not a single light. After waiting and trying, the clock came on for an instant and went away. After waiting and trying again it started right up, but all my settings were set to default. (Time was on 12PM date was January first ect...) I was told this could be the connections to the battery being dirty or whatnot. This has happened three times now. Any tips?

If you've been told it could be the connections, have you even tried cleaning them or even look at them yet? Could be also a bad ground somewhere.

I know nothing about the electrical in this car, Im just wondering what to use to clean them and if I should unplug anything first. Thanks for the quick reply!

Unhook the battery terminals, and use baking soda mixed with some water on a tooth brush to clean the battery line connections and "posts" on the battery. I quoted posts because they aren't really posts, but threaded holes the line screws into. If that doesn't work, it probably is a loose ground. Drive to an auto parts store and have them check your battery. Usually they do it for free.
