battery or alternator?

ok so i was out and about today and when i went back to my car it would not start. the inside lights and gauges flickerd but no start. so i jumped it off and got home. but right after i jumped it off the computer said charge system fail. but i got home. so i uncranked and recranked but some thing nothing.
when going home the head lights flickered and when highs were put on the radio ccut out for a second. and volts were ever where from 13 to 15 the whole time. so what is it?

1 is it the battery or
2 the alternator or
3 none of those or
4 all of the above?

when my batt died my lights went out and the stereo died a cupple times then when i shut off the car i had no lights or anything
if thats your problem then i'd say battery
if you can run the car (on its own power) then its not the alt

that makes me some what happy! so when i get a new battery what kind of power should it have?

i mean CCA and CA?

Try charging the battery on trickle over night and see if it starts the next day.

most likely battery.If it doesnt work after you charge it..replace it... i just bought two batteries for both of my cars with in the past month..Both batteries failed on me. I couldn't start either car and i thought both times that it was something with the engine or alternator..

but if it doesn't start get above the stock ratings that way you have plenty of power and make sure it has a warranty
