Bakerdd's 98 Cr-v Soft-Roader

I'm starting a new thread for my current car because I actually have some things to post now! Maybe some of you know me from my GP or maybe not but its been gone for about 8 months now and I picked up a 1998 Honda Cr-v to bring me up to my mountain school. I bought it in sort of rough condition but I needed a car fast and it was mostly exterior cosmetic problems. It has 178k miles and runs pretty good.

I started with a few maintenance things and then had to rewire the driver side door because some wires had corroded and the power locks and driver speaker weren't working, apparently its a fairly common problem. Next I threw on the xxr's that I had on the pontiac for a little while and I think they looked good but they rubbed a lot. I solved that by adding 1" lift spacers on the rear shocks and that solved that and I got some new shocks for the back while I was under there, they were completely dead and probably were the reason it was rubbing so much. Then I installed my radio and sub from the gp and that was it for a while.

I had to take summer classes this year and that gave me some time to have some fun. There are a few pretty easy trails around here that I decided to check out and see if it could handle them. Its a pretty capable little car but my wheel/tire combo was not cutting it. Most of these roads though are considered forest service roads so with the exception of a few rough areas, they're pretty tame. Theres one spot that I haven't been able to get past yet because of my ground clearance. But driving on these trails and then anticipating a good amount of snow for the winter, I decided that this thing was not going to get lowered.

This weekend I'm picking up some goodies though. My friend has a cr-v and he's selling some parts from it which I'm going to pick up. I'm going to get larger lift spacers (2" front, 2.75" rear) and his A/T wheels and tires and I'm gonna lift it up and make it more of a legitimate soft roader. These are pictures of his car with everything I'm going to buy installed on it.

^that's freaking awesome man!

nice seeing you're still posting here

I came in thinking you were gonna slam a CR-V..... nope

Haha thanks man, I'm pretty excited and I hope mine looks like that! I really did think about it, there are some pretty decent coilover options for them, but I just figured its not worth slamming something like this haha

That's what I thought! Air bagged crv I def like the idea of lifted more and I think you'll have more fun

I definitely agree, there are some low guys around here and I think they just struggle to get anywhere. Almost everyone's driveway is gravel and is at some crazy angle and most of the roads are in pretty bad shape

I'm glad you stuck around after the GP was gone. Cant wait to see what you do to this car.

You eat those words.

I suggest you VHT the amber part of the tail lights red, it will look much better.

Thanks man! I have yet to find a forum with a better group of people than this one, I'll be around for a while haha. They do look cool slammed, I admit that. It just doesnt seem to be that practical or as much fun as a slammed car I guess. But I will definitely vht them for right now, and theres also half red half white JDM ones that I might try and get later on

I managed to get the lift in this weekend and it was a pain but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. It looks like a totally different car

Thanks! I'm gonna try and see how it does on some trails this weekend. and unfortunately the 98 cr-v is a little before the vtec stuff, I think the 99 or 2000's have it though... Its kind of low on power
