bad slipping burnt fluid

hello every one, im pretty new here but i have a question. my 2008 grand prix v6 trans has been slipping and slammed severely lately, it used to pull to 55 mph in first just 3 weeks ago and now now it tops out at 45 in first, the fluid is dark brown and very burnt, im going to hopefully flush it and put on a trans cooler next weekend does anyone have any tips or know if its too far gone? also are zzp shift kits worth it?

if it is shifting hard and slipping, changing the fluid, a shift kit and a trans cooler will make no difference. time for a rebuild.

is there a way it can be limped til next winter?? even if i do the rebuild myself i dont have 300$ for the complete rebuild kit right now. i plan on building it next winter and i want it all done in one shot. thank you guys for alerting me that its worse then i thought atleast i know to take it real easy

i got that, so i wont need to replace the bands or anything else, new clutches seals and fluid and shell be 100% again? it has 117000 miles btw

theres a few trans build threads, you need special tools and theres lots and lots of little parts, its not like doing a water pump or a lim job even, its all pretty technical, one f up and it dont work right.

its nothing id try to do on my own. with some one whos done them before sure, solo, not a chance. but thats me. others here got larger balls than i lol

my grand father is master mechanic and has done quite a few rebuilds but he works alot and i dont like asking favors from him id rather learn on my own but if i do have a f-up i know he would help me, hes a supervisor a refinery also so he works usually 12 hour shifts for 2 weeks then off for a week sometimes its night but others are days, i just dont like bothering him with as hard as he works, i wish everything was as easy as manual tractor trans's

id ask him for help. having a experienced eye on hand will be key to doing it right. its not something you want to do twice.

whats a grand pa for anyways? id hope he wants to make time to help you out on this. he clearly knows what kind of undertaking this job is.

i geuss thatd be the best way to go, its still s****y though because i havent even had my license for a month and before i did it only slipped and slammed once in a while which upon reading is normal for 4t65e. the problem is going to be pinned on me 100% and i wish i could blame it on mileage but my family will say i was racing a bone stock na 08 grand prix with a twisted frame which makes no sense its pretty slow atm

well... i feel like this grand prix always has something wrong, do you ever go to route 66 speedway ItHurtz? itd be to cool to run a test and tune day with after the trans is rebuilt and maybe learn a bit more about my car talking with you in person

LOCAL SCRAP YARD HAS ON WITH 80K ON IT FOR 100$ PLUS 70$ CORE, I AM SAVED. thank you everyone, i will be sure to make thread with pics of swapping it out!

its a used car, you cant be blamed for a issue that showed up a month later. used cars are like a lotto ticket, some win, many lose....

and slip bang is not normal, its broken.

thats a deal for sure. make sure you blow out the tranny lines to the and from the rad, any bad fluid in the lines and cooler can hurt the new tranny.

Nope, great lakes dragaway is closer. Never been there either and wont attempt it either until the trans is built to handle my 50hp.

I would bypass the cooler in the radiator and just run a stand alone

Doing a complete flush on a tranny that broken will only cause more issues... You need a new one or rebuild it. Otherwise, you're out of options.
