bad oxygen sensor

i have a bad oxygen sensor in bank one but i was told not to worry about it. it isnt affecting the performance of the vehicle. does it really need to be replaced? if so how hard is it to do?

bank one up stream is in the rear manifold. you need a 7/8 th o2 socket to remove it. HF sells then for like 7 bucks or so.

whats the code your getting? post it so we are working on the right o2 sensor. you have two. both are bank one. up stream, and down stream is post cat.

Question: I replaced the upstream O2 sensor at 50,000 miles, just because. I didn't replace the downstream one in back of the cat. Does that one really need to be done?

if its not setting a code id leave it. most of the time if its original it wont come out. depending on your year 97-2000 dont really use it, 01 up use it for sure.

I just replaced my downstream this past weekend along with other O2 sensor and spark plugs and wires on my 00' GT... It was stuck in there pretty good and by the time we got it to come out it took to original threads with it so we had to rethread it. It was a pita!!
I have noticed the car runs a whole lot better along with some better MPG...
