bad noise and feeling through brake pedal

yourfns

New member
I have an 04 Grand Prix GT N/A 180k miles. Occasionally when breaking at slow speeds I hear a bad growling noise coming from the left front brake. I can also feel through the pedal a shifting or movement. The left front rotor is on average 50 degrees hotter than the right.
I have new rotors, pads, and calipers also wheel hubs are new. The brakes have been bled a couple times. I do not think any parts are defective. I replaced the caliper twice.
My theory is maybe 2 problems. I did not change the rubber brake lines because the fittings are pretty rusted and they will probably break or twist. I hear they can go bad from the inside out and cause the piston to not retract? Is that true? and maybe the movement I feel is suspension related such as sway bar or control arm bushings. Or maybe it's ABS related? no lights on though.
I know my way around a car pretty well but this has me stumped.
Thanks to all for any input.

To me it sounds like a wheels ABS is dropping out at a low speed. The sound and feel is the ABS engaging.

A scanner that can read real time info and watch all 4 wheels at once while you stop will show what wheel is dropping out.

I'd pull the connectors and clean them all first too, add some electric grease to the sockets and see what happens. But I still think a sensor is dropping out.

Hi FFDP,
I've read a lot of your posts and have gotten good info from them.
I think you're spot on with this also. I pulled the fuse on the ABS earlier today and haven't felt the problem since.. I need to give it a little more time.
I'll clean and grease the the connectors tomorrow and let you know. The left front rotor is still reading hotter than the right.
I was going to look into bleeding the ABS block also.
I'm also thinking of buying an ABS code reader. Any suggestions of a decent inexpensive one? Innova 3030F?
Thanks,
Mark

I'd stay away from that scanner. It has 666 reviews on Amazon

And this is what one reviewer said about it:
2nd review <link
This is what it is and does what it does.

If you read that backwards I'm pretty sure its something about worshiping the devil.

Update: Waiting on the wiring harness for the left front. I pulled the fuse on the ABS and no noise. Put the fuse back in and disconnected the wheel sensor and no noise. I had the problem before I replaced the hub so I'm confident that the sensor on the hub is fine. Also both rotors are same temperature
Thank you FFDP for your help!
