bad forward band- Stupid question

If a 4t65E-HD has a bad forward band will driving it damage anything else? I bought Stealthee's 2007 and I am considering driving it 3 hours back to Ohio. Probably a stupid idea huh?? I have a 1 year old ZZP build transmission I am putting in it when I get it back Cleveland.

If you have a bad forward band then only 1 and 2 will work. Might make for a long trip in second all the way. It can be done, but make sure you have towing on your insurance lol!

ahh. for some reason I thought the gears were still available that in order to get it into 1 you had to upshift and then bring it down into gear. Looks like I am renting a car hauler. LOL

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuudge. Well I just contacted TEP to see how much it would cost to make it work. If not I guess I will have to sell the ZZP trans and put towards a new one for the 07. My life sucks. :(

The comp g looks nice but the underbody is shot. I planned on tearing apart the comp g and transferring all my suspension mods, transmission and engine over to the 07 and scrap the 04 out keeping some parts for spares.

The comp g is a very old comp g. It is one of the 251 pilot cars. Which means it had an extra 2 years to rust out.

What do you guys think my 2004 Comp G trans is worth?

The ZZP trans has the 7/8 single chain, 300m input shaft, moly pump shaft,

1 year old with less than 10k on it

That is incorrect. I could take the car out for a ride and I have all 4 gears plus the tc lockup. You just have to start the car in 1st and manually shift through all the gears. Hell once it's in Drive/4th it will downshift and upshift on it's own until you come to a stop again.

The day the forward band broke I finished driving the car home, then I drove it to the bowling alley and back cruising at 70 mph on the highway at ~1900 rpm. If I only had 2nd RPMs would have been much higher.

Regardless of that I think the best decision is for Rick to tow the car. It very possibly could make the 3 hour trip, but if the trans fails completely in the middle of no where then it could cost a lot more than just towing it the whole way.

Yeah me and a buddy are going to pick it up. I rented a car dolly for the 27th. I just sold the comp g trans so that will help immensely towards a TEP for the 07.

Were you able to get a one way from my area, or are you going to have to haul an empty all the way down here?

I tried but the two places I called said they couldn't schedule that far in advance. I didn't want to take a chance not being able to get one so I scheduled here. Maybe I'll give a call Friday and see if they can figure out how to schedule one. Lol

To all those that have a TEP transmission. Did you use the torque converter that came with it or did you buy a "performance" one
