bad catalytic converter and no money.. HELP!

2003 grand prix gt...
My catalytic converter is shot and i need a new one.. problem is i dont have the money to get a new one but my state also requires me to get an emissions test within the next 2 months..my car has almost no power and i cant drive it for now i want to just remove it for now and relplace it wen i have the money.. what will happen if i remove it? will the O2 sensor mess with the rest of my engine? good or bad idea? how do i go about removing this the right way? any tips would be greatly appreciated
 


tail pipe test.. i will eventually put a new cat on before i have to take the test but for now i dont have enough money to.. im thinking about just removing it all together but i dont know if that is harmful for the engine
 
Well if you did a little reading you would have found it will be fine with out the cat. The replace it before you test.
 
im just worried that since i will have nothing there that the o2 sensor will rob my gas mileage or screw something else up
 
All it will do is throw a check engine light.

The car will behave the same...you'll be fine. I have a '03...and I have no cat either. Just got have it cut out...OR...take it out...gut all the junk out of it...and have it welded back in so it looks like you have a converter in there...when you really don't.
 


im not gonna run any pipes either not even a test pipe.. im too broke so its just going to be completely open for now until i can get sum money together for a new one cuz i have a stupid emissions test due before january.. ugh worst timing ever right??
