back slids under braking

I have a 2004 grand prix gt. When I brake back of the car starts to slide and step out of the line. So that means I cannot do immediate stops which is dangerous especially in this winter season. What could be the reason? :th_scratchhead:

Either the brakes are locking for some reason or the tires are very poor and allowing the brakes to lock. It's time to pull it in teh shop and take a look at it.

Maybe it's that the back gets lighter under heavy braking and if it's icy out then the back will walk with the crown of the road

Well it's winter, and sometimes there is this stuff, it's frozen water. We call it ice. It's usually smooth and causes cars to fishtail.

less brake and do it sooner. pretty much all cars will do this. you could fill the trunk with say 6 or 7 dead bodies..... should fit as long as you dont have any subs in there. but seriously if your tires are in decent shape you just need to slow down and brake sooner.

How's your alignment? I was reading a post on an Impala forum with what sounds like a similar issue and it turns out his alignment was way out and the problem went away with a 4 wheel alignment.
