• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Auto tranny filter fitment

SUGAR

New member
Just changed my Auto Tranny fluid. (first time) 99 GTP
When i put the filter in the o-ring It doesn't seem to be in as far as it could go?
Is this a normal thing, I pushed and twisted a few times, and could never get it past this certain point. Just kinda sits there!
Says 7 quarts, what is that in Litres?

just use the palm of your hand to beat it in there. They are tough to get in, and buy 2 gallons of dex 3.

I'm pretty sure with the GTP design, it won't be able to fall off the spout anyways, it seems that the pan is rested right on it after all bolted up!

The directions say to tap it in gently. It should fit in the collar snugly. If it is not snug, change the collar. Having a leak at the collar would mean the fluid may not get picked up properly through the filter and or it'll pull air if the fluid sloshes etc.

it is in snugly. Not like it falls out when I take my hand off of it. Stays up there fine, it just looks like it could go in more thats all. When I took it off and tried again, it took some force to get it off. I'm sure I'm being paranoid, and everythings fine.

It's already in, was last night! Drove the car today, and its smooth. Goes through the gears smoother. I pushed as hard I could couldn't get it in anymore!
