Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

ASWC connection for steering controls 2000 GT

I've got everything hooked up to the point where I'm testing the install on my Alpine HU. Everything powers up properly and the ASWC blinks like it should and sees the Alpine deck (7 blinks). What I can't figure out is what wire in the factory harness I need to tap to get it to see the controls. What I have connected from the ASWC is the power, ground, 3.5mm wire to the HU remote jack, and the org/grn to the blue wire on pin 14 of the factory harness. The directions that came with the adapter seem to lead down a rabbit hole. I followed the directions and the LED never stops slow blinking green/red, which according to the instructions says it can't see the wheel controls.

I'm not using any of the factory wiring other than power, ground, etc. Non-Bose system. I know I'm missing something stupid here...

I went on the website for better instructions on my 2000 GT it's been a while since I did mine but I remember having an issue with it not taking the program because I didn't splice into the factory wire before the factory plug you can't splice into the aftermarket harness

Through my searching on this issue I saw that, so I tried to splice into the blue wire before it goes into the factory radio plug. I just need to verify what wire on the factory harness is the steeering controls. I'll try their website again and see if I can figure it out. It's the last thing to do before I can get everything installed of course...

I wired mine as per the supplied instructions and it worked. I might have the dash apart over the weekend, and I can do a visual on how it is wired.

Unfortunately mine didn't have the instructions. I printed out what I could from Axxess. I'll try again tonight. Pretty sure it's the solid blue wire on the factory harness. Maybe my temp. connection wasn't good enough.

And yea, if you do happen to get a look, let me know. And people wonder why I hate wiring, lol.

I figured it out. I had the correct wire on the factory harness. It's the thin blue wire on the grey connector. I pulled it from the factory clip to connect it to the ASWC. I also found that I had the incorrect color wire on the ASWC connected. I had what looked like the org/grn wire on the adapter connected, but I switched it to the one that looks more like yellow with a green stripe and it connected and programmed by itself in less than 5 min.

I got the new deck installed with working steering wheel controls. Kinda digging the Bluetooth on it. Iphone connected to it no problem and I can place/receive a call using the stereo. Will be nice for my long drive each day not to have to hold the phone up to my ear to hear a phone call.

Sweet. Always feels good to figure this crap out.

For future reference, this is what I did/have; JVC radio, Metra wiring adapter and ASWC controller.

On the ASWC controller:
pin 12, red --> to red wire of Metra harness (switched 12v)
pin 6, black --> to black wire of Metra harness (ground)
pin 3, orange/green --> to blue wire of factory harness (steering wheel controls)
3.5mm plug --> to 3.5mm plug on JVC radio

The controller auto programmed in just a few minutes.
