Anyone tell me the differences

Hi Guys. I'm looking to buy a motor for my 2005 Grand Prix GT 3.8L v6 VIN 2. I've called local salvage yards and they tell me that a 2006 is not a listing for a replacement engine, and I can not understand why this is? Is there some things you have to change on the 2006 engine to make it compatable in my 2005 car. I'll also include a search engine for engines I found online and if u use the vin2 option for a 2005 then a 2006 they come up with different listings as well......any advice would be greatly appreciated as the 2006 motor i found has the lowest mileage.

Some of the sensors in the block are different. You would have to swap sensors around but it will work.

Do you know by chance what ones?

I know for sure the knock sensors are different. 06 was the year they switched to can bus or whatever iirc.

08 was can bus.

That 06 motor is pretty much be a direct fit.
