Anyone replaced a flexplate without dropping cradle or pulling engine?

So, I am at the point where unfortunately I need to replace my flexplate. I have a Meziere sitting here waiting to go in, but I am loathing the idea of doing the job. I finally set the car up the way I wanted last fall, parked it, now this needs to be done.

Now, I am trying to figure out if I can tackle the job here in the garage with jacks and my engine support bar. I could do it at work, but if anything goes sideways and the car is stuck, I will be in serious trouble.

Curious to know if anyone has done a swap by just pulling the axle, unbolting the transmission and sliding it over as far as it'll go. I don't remember last time we did a converter if there was enough room or not. Looking for headsup if anyone knows, so I can decide where I'll tackle this project.

By the time I remove the turbo pipes and all the misc. gear, it's going to be a hell of a job. Can't wait to line up all the pipes again to avoid rubbing.... Blah.

its kinda your choice, drop the tranny, or pull the engine. dont think you could split them and get to the bolts. its all tight.

You don't have to fully pull the motor out of the car, but you do have to seperate it from the trans. I replaced mine about 2 years ago, pulled the engine up at an angle and got about 6" of clearance between the trans and the engine. Replaced the flexplate, and had the engine dropped right back in.

It sucks, but if you know what you're doing, it can be done in one day.

I haven't have to do any major work in a few years.. Couldn't remember the available clearance between the bell housing and the frame. I guess my memory is serving me wrong, but, that's why I asked!

Well, guess that's the option I have. It would be easier for me to use the brace, and leave the engine in the same position, avoiding disconnecting a ton of other things.. Thanks for the input guys.
