Anyone familiar with 99-05 Impalas?

Anybody know much about these? Problems they have? It's an 02. 3800 which is good. Are there any Impala specific problems I need to look for? Might be picking one up.

Not that I've heard of. Still just a W-body just like the GP's. Being a 3800 I would assume that all the inherent issues would be the same. Just my .02
 
We have one, it's pretty much the same car..lol. Everything on the engine and trans is the same (so same issues), I don't know about rust stuff though. It's rockers are in better shape than my GP's but it's got peeling clear coat on the hood. Just did the water deflector on the impala because we were getting water on the passenger floorboard, so really, it's the same car. I think the window motors are different since they move a lot faster than my gp's.
 
Same issues as a gtp, being a 2002 it will have transmission that could lose 4th gear. transmision will have 3:05 gear ratio if your ever wondering
I have a 2005 and only issue I have had in the 5 years I have had it is "hard shifting" after it warmed up, I just replaced it for a $500 junkyard tranny and has been fine ever since.
 


Same gear ratio as a 04 + n/a grand prix.
In good weather I pull easy 34 mpg on highway, but tune and mods prob help with it
