so ive been returning my "best available" cover from advanced auto every 3 months cause it deteriorates to nothing in that amount of time.its the top of the line they have and its garbage! without spending a fortune, has anyone had luck with anything else? car sits out,in partial shade at times...thanks

decent car cover= garage.

Beyond that, do you have the room to get one of those portable enclosures? About the only thing that would last. I've tried the cover while sitting outside thing and they just don't last. That and I don't like the moisture it traps between the body and cover. Like I need any further help with aquiring rust, lol..

I bought one of Advance's covers about 3 months ago and its still doing good. Hell it is the cheap one too. The gray one is the cheap one, blue is middle grade, and yellow is top grade. My cousin has a yellow one on his turbo hatch and while it could be in better shape he has had it several years. My other cousin has a grey one on his turbo Talon and it is several years old as well and still going strong. My brother had a grey one that he used to cover his dirt track car and had it for over 5 years and the only reason he trashed the cover is because he got out of dirt track racing and sold the car.

I've never used a cover, so what is it that deteriorates? They have a fuzzy inside or something?

For me, its the wind damaging them like a flag gets frayed. I don't have a spot to keep sufficiently out of wind to use a cover, they just rip off and beat the heck out of your paint. Plus yes, hold moisture in. I tried everything I knew of but could never keep them from blowing off where I park. A custom upholstery person may be able to beat the weather long-term with a custom cover, but $$$.

well maybe ill try the middle grade cover! i just looked at the receipt, the gold cover from advance auto is exactly 2 months old and its ruined! thats the 2nd one in less than 4 months.they must have changed material? i do use the eye holes on the side and attach string to a block,it really helps keepin it on. ill look around some more and see what i come up with..thanks for the input!

Bumping this old thread!
I'm in the market for a cover, or alternatives.
I keep my car in the garage, but I'm hoping to keep the dust off it over the winter.

Like others mentioned, I really don't want moisture collecting between the car and the cover.
Does anyone think this would happen while the car is stored in a heated garage?

I saw this article Car And Driver tweeted out a while back, but a lot of these either don't fit the car, or don't get the greatest reviews on Amazon:
Highly Rated Car Covers to Protect Your Sports Car

Anyone have any other ideas or suggestions?

Thanks all!
