Any Getrag 284 cars still kicking?

I wonder if mine is still around here? It mostly needed some body work. The trans was good.
 




well you can tally one more on the list. I just bought a 92' gtp with the 5 speed 284 getrag. unfortunately, there is most likely something wrong with the transaxle. it makes an awful noise as soon as i engage the clutch.
 


yep. you got it. sounds just like a loud grinding noise. i take it that you have some insight to what might be the cause of the noise??
 
A 282 is kinda tempting for my 2nd gen, but they are 20 yrs old. Unless you rebuild it, you never know if its gonna grenade on you in the first 50ft you drive it. IMO:th_nervous:
 
I have two cars with the Getrag 284, '92 SE & GTP. I have another 284 on the bench that I would like to rebuild (2nd gear syncro bad). Since I am new to this forum where can I find parts?
 


Im pretty sure there was a Getrag tranny in my SVT focus's I had, those trans are some strong ****! Damn Germans know how to build em!!!
