Im starting to look for a new laptop. I will be going to college this coming fall but would like to purchase the computer in the spring or early summer. I have about a 1000-1200 dollar budget and want it to be a pretty good performing machine. I am going to college for engineering and it will need to be able to handle any programs I would need to run. Plan on using photoshop to edit photos and stuff. Have lots of music on itunes so it will have to handle that and some casual gaming. I was recommended to check out malibal computers. They customize laptops made by clevo. They have some great warranties too. While most of there computers are for gaming this one is more of a multimedia platform. Heres the link and ill give you some of the options I was leaning towards. I want this thing to be pretty quick. BTW the company is based out of the US and has great customer service.

Its not a bad price for the hardware, but Malibal laptops are known for crappy motherboards. As an IT guy i've run across several of them and everyone i've touched has had a faulty motherboard. It'll will probably be a fine laptop but my bet is around the 2 year mark you're going to start having odd issues like it randomly powering off, and contrast issues with the LCD

If you are interested in the storage, find a laptop with a dual storage bay. Get like a 120GB or so SSD and then get a 750 GB physical drive.

Sounds good. Not sure on the brand though, haven't heard of them. One of the best brands out there is asus. I've had 4 laptops from them. All worked great. Had a screen issue with one but their warranty paid express shipping both ways, I had my laptop back in 5 days. Great warranty. Most of their laptops come with a 1yr accidental protection warranty too. So if u drop it, spill coffee on it or anything they'll replace it. My current one I got new for $1400. It had a gtx560, forget CPU name but an I7 that's 1.6 and turbos to 2.8ghz. 12gb ram, 640gb hard drive space, 17"screen, great battery life too. I love it and have no complaints. It also looks so sick, best looking laptop I've seen so far imo.
