amp remote wire question

So i just installed a new head unit (JVC KD-HDR50). I had a (Sony Xplod CDXGT520). i noticed that the plug in for the sony fit inside the back of the JVC so i just used that plug in. Everything works great but im not getting power to my amp. I grabbed my voltmeter and checked the amp its got power to the 12v the ground is solid but there is no power going to the blue wire at the amp. IS there supposed to be or not. There are no fuses for the blue wire it runs from the head unit direct to the back and then to the amp. I checked all of the fuses amp has 2 those are good and the main fuse under hood is good and has power. What did i do wrong? did i need to use the wires that came with the JVC even though everything works great>

thanks for you help guys.

You need a remote wire to trigger it to turn on when the headunit comes on. All amps that I know of have this little feature. You need to check the amp for a remote wire connection. And then you need to attach that wire to the remote wire off the headunit. That will trigger the amp to turn on and off with the hu.

Let me clarify just incase, when I say remote wire, I dont mean the wired remote control for amp gain or anything like that. It is simply going to be a 16ga or similar small wire that will run from the rear of the HU to your amp. You just splice the ends, and attach one to the remote wire connection on the amp and the other attach to the remote wire on the hu. Simple :)

in a pinch if you are not getting voltage on the remote wire you can wire it to the switched voltage wire (red) and if you get a bad pop go to radio shack and get a 100 ohm resistor and that will help with the pop and just put it inline
