All ABS, Anti Skid, and Power assist suddenly goes off.

Hello all!

I don't know where best to put this, so I thought I'd throw it here. Mods, if this needs to be moved...;)

Anyway, my 04 GTP is doing something weird lately. All of a sudden, I will get the warnings that the ABS, the Skid, and the Power Assist Steering are being shut down, and then teh Service Soon message. I stop, shut off the car, and all is well for a few days. Then, all of a sudden, whammo, all 3 go on the blink, and I shut down, restart and all is OK.

So, as much fun as the Microsoft Windows method of fixing is (all I need is an "Are you sure" before I turn off the car to "reboot"), this event is annoying.

My question.

Are all three attached to the same circuit? Could the computer be a little "skiddish"? Has this happened to anyone else, or should I call Father Bob and sprinkle Holy Water?
 


yeah, all of those are connected
the regular code scanners cant read the abs... so that should clear it up.
 


Is your Tac acting up as well?

Mine (and granted its an 01) would lite up the TCS OFF light and the SES light and the Tac would drop to 0, but the car would continue to run just fine. Shut it off and everything was back to normal.

It ended up being the Crank Position Sensor.

Let us know what you find with the ABS...I too really think its probably a wheel sensor, especially since you didn't mention anything about the Tac.
