Airbag light on, no cruise control and no audio control

Hello all,

Just received a 2004 GTP from a family member- has been sitting quite a while and many repairs were done. Most recently, the horn did not work and I was told it was a "wiring" problem that was fixed. On the drive home, I noticed that (1) the airbag readiness light remained on, (2) the cruise does not work and (3) the steering wheel audio controls do not light up or work. Does anyone think that it could be a "wiring" problem like the horn? Upon reading these forums, it appears that it very well may be the clockspring, but I would like to eliminate other possible causes before attempting to replace it or have the vehicle serviced. Ran an OBD-II scanner and no codes came up. I have checked many of the wires mentioned, but do not see any obvious problems. Any advice would be appreciated. If it is the clockspring (part number 26097600?), are there any non-OEM parts like Dorman, etc?

clock spring broke, why the airbag light and radio controls quit. been there, done that. have a small 2 jaw gear puller on hand to get the steering wheel off. air bag has 4 little holes in the rear plastic cover, insert the largest flat head screwdriver you can, push it in, then turn it, your releasing a spring lock lever. once its off you get to fully understand it lol

the cc could be the third brake light being burnt out, so check on that, you get to the bulbs from in the trunk under the deck there.

Thanks- the third brake light is fine. I suspect that the clock spring might be bad, but I'm hoping to determine whether the cc is a related problem or a separate problem. Do you know if the audio control buttons still light up if the clock spring is bad?

they dont light, or work when the clock spring is bad, a/b light is on forever too.

cc is not related to it, its controls are on the multi switch there. could be a dirty plug on the unit. or maybe its just bad. hard to say.

Since all three problems are located on the front of the steering wheel, I was just hoping it was a single problem, like an electrical/power issue. Since I don't know how to test such things, I may be forced to consult an "expert." Thanks for the help.
