Air issue

Sometimes my air does not blow when I go to turn it on. I have an 04 grand prix and this happens with both heat and AC and pushing any of the buttons does not help getting it to turn on. I have the basic climate control unit that comes in the GT1 model.

Give it a swift kick in the blower motor with the fan on high and see if it starts then. If so you've found the problem.

When it doesn't blow, does it just not blow at all or only on high?

Does not blow at all

the first words of the first post is, "sometimes my air does not blow" so will it blow on 5 and not on 1-4? or just fully work and then not work at all.

I have an 04 so I do not have air settings 1-5, it is little marks. Also, it does not blow at all. When the air does work, it works on any little tick mark I put it at perfectly fine. When it does not work it will not work on any setting.

Kick it and see if it starts. My 05 had bad brushes in the blower motor when I bought it. It worked on the test drive and the next day when I drove it again it didn't work. When the salesman got out of the car I kicked it and it came on so I knew the blower motor was bad. I have had that happen on at least four different vehicles of various makes and models. Try it and see it literally takes just a second. Any time you have an intermittent blower motor, dollars to doughnuts that is the issue. Motor brushes wear out and it happens in everything from drills to fan motors and everything with brushes. I'm pretty disappointed that you haven't even tried this simple test yet.

Finally had the chance to do a kick test when the air did not want to come on and it fixed the issue. So just to be clear, I need to order a new blower motor and not a blower motor resistor correct? Dumb question but I want to be 100% positive

I don't think the 04+ has a blower resistor, I am pretty sure it's a PWM control. But test it anyway...

Jeff

edit: I stand corrected there is one listed for it.

I have the same problem, but it's almost exclusively during the winter. A couple punches usually fixes the problem. So according to the responses in this thread, it seems like it's the blower motor.
