Air filter swap

Hey everybody, I'm new on here, only had my GT for a few months now. Mods are coming slowly... new wheels and tires, check :th_thumbsup-wink:
I'm looking to put a K&N or some kind of cone filter on it. Does anyone know off hand what size it is? and is it worth the mod on it's own?
I have an aluminum intake tube and filter from my Dakota I was going to use but it looks way smaller. I'm thinking it must be close to a 4 inch intake tube??

thanks

what year GP is it? my mom has a stock 02 GPGT and i put a drop in K&N which is plenty. the stock intake on the 02's is pretty unrestrictive

They commonly use 4" PVC to build custom intakes for the GP...should be fine just get a adapter that fits the TB outlet.

thanks for the respones.
I seen the post for the full intake into the bumper but I'm not looking to go that far. I'd just like to put a filter on and fab a box for it. If it responds better and it helps with mileage that's great. I do alot of driving, my kids live 189 miles from me and I do 2 round trips every other weekend.

My car is a 2000, roughly 72,000 miles (116,000 kms) I might go the K&N drop in way

I assume you would need a 4inch to 3inch reducer for a cone?

thanks guys, your help is appreciated. As you can guess by my user name and avatar I'm not too heavy into the GM scene but I've always liked these cars.
I can also add the "dogbone flip" to my completed list, I did that one today. I found it made my car seem more responsive as well as it seemed to make the tranny shift tighter (harder shifts)

the restrictive part isnt the air box, its the tubing connecting the throttle body to the air box. replace that first.
