Ok, not to sound like an idiot, but I want Air in my drivers seat. I have seen these on the newer cars, is there any option out there anywhere to install these, or even to buy a seat from another car that will fit in our cars. Does anyone have this option. I have searched for hours on the net, with no luck.. I hate the Houston heat, and would love to do this mod.. thanks..

Re: Air Conditioned Seats

Probably wouldn't be too difficult to rig up some desktop computer fans in there.

Re: Air Conditioned Seats

Really???? Ya know, this does not sound like a bad idea.... I might take my driver seat out one day soon, just to see how hard it is to open and look inside.. If it looks possible, I might get a comp fan in the seat and back, and wire it up.. You never know, this might be the easiest cheapest way to get this done... any tips on taking these seats apart?.. A blue LED fan would even make it look nice..lol... Good idea NAWARKK...

Re: Air Conditioned Seats

My 83 Riviera has an A/C duct that blows right on my nuts, it's centered up under the steering wheel. Maybe you could "add" an additional duct.

Yes, I wear pants when I drive :th_laugh-lol3:.

Re: Air Conditioned Seats

OK, I have an update,, Well, tonight I went ahead and removed my seat.. It was not tuff at all, only two bolts in the back and one bolt holding the seatbelt on, a little tuff getting the seat out, oh and disconnecting two control switches,, easy,, anyways,, when I did this, to my GREAT SURPRISE, there is a little AC vent that is designed to blow air under the seat so that the passengers in the back can get air. WOW,, I did not know this... Well, to make a long story short, I dug out a small spot in the bottom of my seat, removed a little of the heated seating element so that the AC could pass thru, and I have rigged up some Hose I cut from an old vaccuum. I glued the end to the spout of a bottle..lol,, and it is currently in my kitchen drying.. I will install this tomorrow and update everyone how it went.. If this goes good, I will of course change the hose and connections to a better more stable solution.. Any other ideas???,,,, The nice thing is, when i want to have the air on in the seats, I simply turn the AC knob to floor setting, and bam,,, I might plug the other AC spout as to gain more pressure in my seat.... Please, anyone, give me some advice, I will do this in the morning when i wake up, very excited....

LOL,,, Yeah, people in the back will suck it..lol.... Well, I just came back from buying some clamps to ensure that everything is tight when i put it in,, Not alot of pics,, I mean what you see is what there was, I do have a couple pics of the seat before i dug the hole... I will post up with other completed pics,, If this works out well,,, I just hope I get a little spreaded air flow,, I think I should, I spent a great while digging the inner parts out where the heating element was.. We will see... Ok, Im of to do it.. wish me luck

OK...I got my seat in, connected it with some hose clamps to ensure that it stays secure. When I set my knob to floor or floor/upper vents, the air blows nice and even throughout the seat portion of the chair,, this is nothing like your normal Air seats that they have in these newer cars, this is true AC (cold air) not just small loud air fans to dissipate the heat. Well, it works fantastic, better than i thought it would. I am sure there are ways to improve upon this, but again, this was just a sample run, I want to somehow carve out the upper back portion of the chair and more of the seat to allow more air flow. I am also going to block off the passenger air vent under that seat to increase the pressure to my seat..All in all, I am 100% happy with this overnight project. Any suggestions to improve this would be appreciated.. Why hasn't anyone ever thought of this before? I have seen one other GP pre 04 put CTS-V seats in his car that had Air, but that was costly and very very time consuming. Do the pre 04+ cars even have these small air ports that push air to the back under the seat? Well, I would suggest anyone that wants air in their seats to try this route, then we can put our minds together and maybe improve upon this method.

I legitimately wondered about air in the back when i first got this car and assumed since it was american they didn't give a **** about anyone but the driver hence the power seat and heated seat only for the driver and no rear vents :D

Sounds awesome though.

sorry about the link,, I did not think the whole entire GP world would come down upon me with such a vengance for doing so.... Wont happen again... but this seat sure does feel good..
