aftermarkt body kits

hey im lookin for some info on body kits for a 4dr '99 GT. also i heard that any bumpers that werent OEM stock would just shatter upon the slightest impact becuz they'd be of a lower quality. is there an truth to that ?.... and if so has anyone tried to reenforce aftermarket kits with more fiber glass or carbonfiber ??... any info would be a great help.. thanks alot :th_thumbsup-wink:

your absolutely rite!!....if i wanted a dime a dozen jap-scrap sewing machine on steroids i get one but im not into that ... i just want my GT to have a little extra flare after a wolf took out the front 1/4 of my bumper when i was doin 140 across saskatchewan .....so if anyones got some useful tips/info id greatly appreciate it !

Not all aftermarket ones will shatter, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.
 
dude i have a kado body on mine from ebay it is pretty strong but i have broke it in a few places if you are going to get one do yourself a favor pay the little extra and get a duraflex one they are a flexable material like the stock bumper and will hold up much better then the fiberglass one i have
 
material you are looking for is urethane. Carbonfiber would be cool though.
anyways, you mentioned flare so instead of a body kit or the sd lip, try this,MPD, Inc.
a lil expensive, and im not sure if they still make it or not.
 


To each his own. I kinda like the start of my body kit. Got it from AEDCentral.com. Not sure of the prices now, but when I got it, they were the only ones out there. It was a nice chunk of change, but it is all hand laid fiberglass. AndysAutoSports also has some. It's your ride, do what you want. It doesn't matter what you do, it's not going to sit well with everyone. Atleast when I roll down the stree, I know Im not going to look like all the rest of the GP's out there. If you need any more info, let me know, and I'll help you out.

Kind of expensive for some fender flares...., you could just roll em if you really wanted, but $1500 for flares seems pretty extreme
 
so far ive seen 2 bodykits for these cars and both of them seem sketchy, does anyone know of bodykits with less of a race look and more of a european luxury look?? ive got a 4 door because i like bigger cars but id like new bumpers to kind of sophisticate it
