Aftermarket fuel pump has different electrical connector, need to find stock one

Was there ever a known issue with the stock 4 wire square electrical connector that goes to the fuel pump? I recently bought a '03 GTP with 187,000 miles, and I went to replace the fuel pump with a working pump from a '01 GTP. When I pulled the pump from the '03 and saw the aftermarket pump, I was stopped in my tracks. The owner had an awful Airtex brand pump installed, no wonder he had problems. Even the fuel sender is a different style and can't be replaced with a AC Delco one.
Anyways, as I was researching fuel pumps for the GP's, one comment made was that a number of Grand Prix and other W-body owners had problems with the AC Delco fuel pump and it was due to the electrical connector design. I was like "uh", never heard of this.
Now, I got to cut the stock connector off another GP, but can't locate any model years close to the 2003.
What years used the same fuel pumps?

You can use the plug from a O2 sensor also.

There is a TSB somewhere about the square plug design not making good connection and causing wires to melt. Because of this a lot of pumps, including OEM replacements come with the flat 4 plug on them and an included harness to splice in.

Thanks for that info about TSB's. I knew they existed, but never really bothered researching them. I found a list of TSB's for the Pontiac Grand Prix, by year. Interesting that I have owned these cars since 1999 and really never bothered looking into these TSB's. I can consult with some local long time GM mechanics about some of the bulletins to see if they can help diagnose certain problems.

Concerning the TSB on the square fuel pump electrical connector and the overheating problem on fuel pumps, I am going to remove the upgraded flat plug and install the 4-pins square plug as I have never had an issue with overheating with any electrical connector or any lack of power to the fuel pump on the Grand Prix's I have owned. Besides, I have a number of pumps from GP's that I know operate fine and I don't want them to go to waste.
