AEM Fuel Pump

Is anyone using it? I know I read a post about an 06 gp using one but the can't let the tank go below 1/4 tank. I had the zzp350 pump and it was nice for the 9 months it lasted, it's being replaced under warranty. I had now problems with it while it worked.

I have a Venturi racetronix pump in right now but my canister is non Venturi on my Impala so it's not running right. When I get close to 1/4 tank, car struggles for fuel during hard braking and hard turns when low, ZZP pump didn't do this it was non Venturi.

What has to be done as far as "modifying" the canister for the aem to work? Or is it as simple as a regular fuel pump install? Impalas didn't come with Venturi pumps as far as I can find, the delco and Delphi replacement canisters are Venturi but I don't want to spend another $70-130 on a new canister. If someone has a way to fix my problem with the Venturi racetronix then I'll fix that but otherwise I have to find a non Venturi replacement.

Also interested in finding out what to do for a fuel pump upgrade 04+.

If it helps, it looks like the part number ZZP uses for the AEM E85 pump is 50-1200.

I have an AEM 50-1200 pump I am working on right now. If you install the pump with the pickup screen in the canister then below a quarter tank the pickup will be sucking air. If you install the pickup through the bottom of the canister then you get fuel slosh on hard turns. My idea is to replicate the factory pickup and install both screens so it can draw in and out of the canister. I will probably sell it once I am done as it is an extra one. This is the only solution I can think of. I tried running the pump both ways and neither produced satisfactory results hence the modification.

I guess this is always an option too...

As for 04+ I still really think adding a return line and doing a FPR is the best option for them =p. Get a line from 97-03 from the junkyard for like 20 bucks + the fuel rail for maybe another 20.

I had the zzp350 pump in there with both screens and I had no problems, the racetronix isn't as talks the ZZP so it sits lower. But with or without the screen on the pump it did the same thing.

The bottom screen connects to the AEM factory inlet. The interior canister screen goes into a hole I drilled next to the original pickup. The bottom of the pump between the green plastic and metal body inside is open all the way around where the pump draws in. The pump can draw from either inlet through this open chamber.

Oh ok. My regular AEM pump (non e85 one) has a Venturi type hole that the instructions say to leave open so I'm go with that for now, see how that goes.
