adjusting the BBV

Bio248

DUI BABY
how the hell do you do this? is it that little set screw that i need to move or do i need to move the valve itself in the slotted holes? which way does what with it?

i really dont care if my boost is slowed, but i need it that way. i am getting some crazy burst knock (6-8*) that diminishes by the top of the RPM range.

sooo..how the crap do adjust this thing so it stops letting boost in so fast and my PCM cant compensate?

u move the whole valve up to slow boost I believe. Zap says to push it down if u are not getting full boost so I would asume u would pull it up in ur case. And yes u have to loosen the 10mm bolts and adjust it in the slots.

Just be careful, you go too far and it won't close completely, so you'll bleed off boost when you shouldn't be.

just play with it till you get it right. once i get it right i leave THE DAMN THING ALONE cause its a pain to get back right.

adjust it, drive it, adjust it, drive it, adjust it, drive it. thats all i can say.

the best thing i find is to atleast keep it where the rod is going strait up into the bbv, seems to get the best seal that way.

what i did was loosen the bolts on the bbv and start the car...then i pulled up until it straightened itself out...then i tightened the bottom one and turned off the car tightened the top one....can get to the top one with the car on because of the BBV control arm.....i figured this way the car will put the bbv some where around where it should be with no boost....it eliminated my burst knock...my burst knock used to his 5.5* and now i never get kr higher that 2.6 so i say its better i have no exhaust mods and prob a super clogged cat thats why im going offroad DP...

Maybe it's about time to throw that new ported blower on with the Meth. :th_biggrin2:

i did switch ported blowers, hense why the BBV moved. ;)

dont you remember reading and commenting on my ported blower/alky project thread? silly guy.

Well it's been a while since I've read everything....cut me some slack. :th_nanana:

hey man i did something new that worked better....turn off the car and then loosen all the bbv nuts now lightly apply pressure down on the bbv until both side start to pushback at you...make sure you dont let the rod go into the bbv at all just push down until it stop its and level it out then tighten it up...also look from the side and make sure the rod goes into the middle of the bbv (looking from the side as if you were lookin down the front of the blower) that rod has play toward the blower and front of the car make sure its in the middle...i get no more burst kr any more just lil 1.9/2.1 spikes in the upper rpm range mostly on 2nd gear pulls....hope this helps...

...soo, loosen the 10mm bolts and push down on the valve until i can feel a little resistance and then tighten it up?
