adding a hud

so my friend got a 02 gp gt sedan and it has the hud, its really nice to not have to look down to see the speed
so my question is how would i go about modding my 01 gp gt coupe to add the hud and make the lights red instead of green?

to add a HUD you either need to cut a hole in your dash or get a dash pad from a car that has a HUD and put the whole assembly in.

from green to red youll have to change the lights on the inside. worth it? probably not.

i dont know like ive done it, i just read about it a couple times. im not sure how you would change the display color.

either youre lucky and the wiring is under the dash and it is plug and play or you have to splice into the wiring. its kind of hit or miss from what ive seen.

The problem with changing display is based in the diodes used to make up the hud. You would have change out the diodes to a different color. And that is not gonna be an easy task.

The windshield needs to be changed. There is a special film that reflects the HUD to the driver. Very expensive windshield!

You dont need to change the windshield.

When my windshield cracked it was replaced they added the non coated window. the display looked fine. just a bit grainy around the edges of the display (very small amount). Went back just because i was stingy and got it replaced again.

??? Hey, are u suppposed to be able to see the HUD in the daytime??? MIne is only visable at night...

Not to be a smart-alek [spelling?], but have you turned up the brightness?? Maybe it's just turned down. :th_scratchhead:

Yes, you are supposed to be able to see it during the day.

Well I was told wrong then, sorry. I have it in my Vette and that's what they told me.

Just my thoughts on the green vs. red thing. My HUD in my 2000 GTP is green, but all of the other lights are red. Doesn't seem a big deal at all to me. Plus the green seems like it would be easier to read during the day.
