Ac compressor kicking on

have a 2000 gp GT, my ac hadnt worked since i pieced my car back together from hitting a deer back in dec of 06.. car sat for awhile too. got it back running summer of 08, decided to put a condenser in it this summer to get the ac workn... all went well. nut i notice this week (its been pretty cool of the mornings) that when i turn my heat on the ac compressor kicks on too....???!!!????

is it supo to do that?????? any help would be great guys!!
 


The a/c compressor cycles when you turn on the heater. It does so to prevent the compressor from getting seized in the winter months all vehicles do it
 
Do you have defrost on?
Usually it will kick on in defrost mode, it does this so it will run the compressor so it wont become seized from not being used.
 
nope, defrost isnt on.... i have the digital controls, even when i just make the fan turn on lowest speed i can feel and hear the compressor kick on...
