Abs/traction light on and brakes affected

I have a 2004 GT2. I start my car---and after about 5-10 mins my ABS and Traction control lights pop on, they all shut off again when i turn my car off and it takes another 5-10 mins for it to pop back on, and weather they are on or not, sometimes (not all the time) i hit my brakes as i come to a light or whatever, and it feels like something is under the brake pedal, i'm getting so much resistance, so i have to stomp it and it feels choppy as it goes down. Same if I pump the brake, again, sometimes, it feels like i get choppy resistance as it goes down (like how the brake pedal feels when the abs kicks in) Even if im stopped. Maybe I just need to bleed the brake lines? A fuse? Any ideas?

One last question--- how do i find out WHICH Hub it is? (I'm trying to avoid taking it in like the plague)

Mine is my left hub... when i am going like 45mph around a left turn...I don't hear/feel the vibration. Maybe some others will chime in with some other ways to tell which one.

use your jack and raise the car see witch wheel has some play in it. but ur not hearing a humming coming fromt one side of the car?

abs and trac off light doesnt always mean a bad wheel hub. mine was cuz a wheel speed sensor wire split. try to get a scan.

Yep, I agree, it might be a bad wheel speed sensor...................in which you'll have to replace the hub anyway since that one little sensor is fixed into the hub. I found out which wheel was bad by getting it scan. It'll tell you which wheel has the faulty sensor. I found a Timken hub using frugalmechanic.com. I think I only paid like $60 for it. But I'm sure rockauto will have it for around the same price too. BTW: I got the ABS and Traction control messages but I didn't get the choppy resistant pedal.

Hey all, had problems with ABS and traction control lights before. Replaced right front hub and now all appears fixed :D

Steering feels more responsive now as well :D

As it turns out...bad speed sensor. Which they're telling me the frong right hub needs to be replaced. -_-

A quick word of caution, I changed both front bearings, still doing it. I think it is in the wiring from the hubs to the brain. Just my theory.

I think you might be right... I replaced my right hub and it fixed it for about a month, now its doing it again. Makes me angry cos i've done this fix once, want to move on to the next problem!

alldata TSB says

abs lamp intermittent or constant:

Cause: The front wheel speed sensor harness may wear or contact the tie rod stud. in this case the wheel speed sensor should be examined for damage.

Correction: Replace the wss harness by splicing in revised wss harness. the new design harnesses are different length and have revised retention clip locations.
