ABS or Not ABS

How can I quickly tell whether or not I have ABS brakes? It's an '04 3800 series 3. Isn't it usually on the center of the hub, between the lug nuts, ABS, if it definitely has ABS brakes? Or can I tell by looking at the master cylinder? Thanks.

Thanks. It's my daughter's car, so I'll have to wait till I see her again to check. It's an '04 grand prix gt 3800 series 3. So, I don't know if that's the base model or not. But I'll check that light. I noticed that her brakes needed changed, so I wanted to know before I started the job.

pop the hood.

look at the brake booster, then the master cylinder.

if the brake lines come out of that and into another box then you have ABS, if they just head on under the car, no abs.

having ABS wont change the brakes that came on it.

Ok. so after you depress the brake cylinders with a c-clamp, change the brake pads, pump the brake pedal until it's firm, and you're good? Car has disc brakes on front and back, not that it matters. By the way, if they happen not to be ABS, I will have to bleed them, right? On my other cars I did. Was I wasting my time?

Thanks for staying with me on this. Don't mean to drag this on, but when I do the rear brakes, do I then screw in the pistons instead of depressing them? This is an '04. Also, how does the parking brake work on disc brakes, and does anything have to be done to these when changing brake pads, adj., etc. ?
