A few quick questions...

Hi all, I'm pretty new to the 3.8 modding scene, and this forum seems to be the place to be.

I have a 2000 Impala 9C1 that I plan to do a top swap on very soon, and after reading the stickied thread, i have a few questions.

So first off, I was quoted by Morad parts at $725 (includes shipping) for all the hard parts needed for the top swap. So my question is, is this an okay deal? or would i be better off trying to find a junkyard GTP and getting the parts there?

Also, I've been hearing that a tuned PCM is alot better than having a company like ZZP tune it for you. Let's say i buy the Top Swap accessory kit from WBodystore.com which includes the "tuned" PCM. Would this PCM allow me to drive my car (say ~75 miles) to a tune shop?

And finally, would it be cheaper to source my own gaskets and other needed accessories, and then tow my car to a tuner than to buy the kit that includes the programmed PCM and then have that one custom tuned?

Thanks!

its an okay deal since morad knows everything you need, but the liklihood of you finding it cheaper locally is there.

yes, the PCM should allow you to at least drive the car. gaskets are going to be a 'maybe' situation, it really depends on which ones you get.
