A Deer Hit My Car This Morning!!!

I was driving into work this morning on a road I take everyday. I've come close to hitting some deer before on this same road but since I tend to not speed on this twisty curvy racetrack I usually have enough time to brake.

This morning my luck ran out. I was doing about 35 mph, speed limit is 30, and a Doh came running out of the trees from my left side. She ran right into the side of my car. She HIT me! There is a little damage on the very tip of my the left side of my front bumper, right at the wheel. My fender, fenderwell, hood, drivers side door, and drivers rear view mirror are all heavily damaged. My door hinges are bent so bad I have to get out of the passenger door because my drivers side won't open.
My TDC Racing FWI took some minor damage as well, however, I pulled it off and have already been able to smooth it out so it looks as if there it was never damaged. Thank goodness for the endless amount of tools to choose from where I work. Luckily I still have my DIY intake in my trunk so I will put that on for the time being.
As for the Doh, it wasn't moving and I thought I had killed it. Scared the day lights out of me seeing her head snap like it did when we collided. I called my father who lives close to where the accident happened, and he proceeded on his way with a shotgun and other hunting equipment because he wanted some venecin for dinner. I started walking up to it and when I got about 10 feet from her she started bucking and going crazy, then got up and ran off in an awkward run with her neck and head hanging to the left. Poor thing must've been in some serious pain. I couldn't do much else but watch her run off. She probably just laid down and died.

Anyways, when I got to work I called my insurance and they setup an appointment for me on thursday at Creative Colors Auto Body in Frederick, MD. They will give me my estimate but I'm going to have a family friend fix my car because he did an excellent job on my fathers Jaguar.

I think I now have an excuse to dish out some money for the SD hood and front lip, maybe the spoiler.

Dam sorry to hear that. It's time of year the deer are all over the place. I hope everything works out for you. Make sure they check for any hidden damage.
good luck

Well I have to get an estimate from "their" authorized body shop. Afterwards I'll take it to my father's friend and he will look it over and probably call the insurance company because he found "hidden damage."

I'm thinking the estimate is going to cover the front bumper, left corner lens of the headlight, driver side fender, the fender well, the water deflector, drivers side door, and drivers side rear view mirror. So the whole front clip has to be painted for sure. Now if the door is damaged wouldn't they have to paint the rest of the car or else the paint would not match up, right???

$1000 for the whole SD Kit on PFYC.com...tempting

If anyone has any of the parts I need above let me know. I could probably save some money purchasing the fender from you all or a junk yard.

If anyone has a SD hood, spoiler, or lip I would be interested in that as well.

We are about to start taking some pictures... what I thought was scratches on the side of the door actually is hair that is stuck to it. Hopefully the pictures will come out clear enough off my co-workers cell.

I'm not sure how it is done in the US. But up here in Canada a lot of the bodyshops ( I use to do it) will do a blend job. they will prep the side of the car and blend out the color then clear it ( if it is B/C ). then they should do a polish job on the rest of the car.
It also depends on how good the shop is at matching up the color. There are lots of variences in colors. Your's is Gulf Blue so if it has metalics in it they will have 2 issues to over come, the color and the layout of the metalics. Don't take " oh it's close enough escuse" sometimes ( IMO) it is easier to just paint the whole car. Plus you keep the owner happy as heck. Word of mouth is good advertising.

Just my oppion.

Well Im sorry to hear about it all, glad you are okay though. Sorry your dad missed out too, LOL.

I guess its time to plan out all you want to do and get 'er done.

Thanks for wishing I was ok. Hopefully this is like a "Car Blessing"in disguise and I can get it looking pretty sweet, more than it was, just in time for some calnder shoots! :th_thumbsup-wink:

Just a quick question
Did the deer hit you or did you hit the deer? :th_jester:

I'm sorry just had to ask!

Work is getting to me and I'm not even half done the day yet.

We took pictures on my friends cell phone but it doesn't send them to e-mail so I'll have to wait to show you when I take pictures later.

The deer hit me and I'll be able to prove that because of the very minimal damage to my front bumper but all on the fender and door.

I have hit one deer in 4 years. Around here they are everywhere too. I hit mine with my Explorer a couple years ago. It broke the grill and headlight but thats it. My dad had one run into the side of his pickup last year and all it did was slober down the side.

It sucks hitting a deer especially when the damage is bad. Hopefully it will work out in the end.

Ahhh ok but maybe we should get the Deer's side of the story!!

LOL oh my back to work

That deer is dead, she has to be, otherwise she's suffering pretty bad... I don't know how she ran off. Had to have been pure adrenaline. Her neck was broken. I can't describe it perfectly. It's one of those things you had to be there for. :th_tombstone:

The deer ran off and her head and neck were bent to the left and down. She couldn't look straight. She was almost looking towards the ground. Seriously, it was quite disturbing. It was such an awkward demon like run.:th_frowning:

Yea my dad hit a deer with his triton v10 a few years back. All it did was damage the grill and the bumper but you couldn't even notice the bumper. I wish he kept that thing instead of trading it in for his Honda Accord.

Sorry to hear about your car man. For future reference, NEVER go up to a deer (or any other animal for that matter) after you just hit it! Your life could be in grave danger. Most people see a deer as an animal that is not dangerous, for the most part that is true but most deer aren't hurt and terrified. The most dangerous thing about a deer is their hoofs, they are very sharp and you can be seriously hurt from them.

Good luck with getting your car fixed. We need some before and after pics!!

Oh trust me, I knew better, I wasn't going to go touching it or anyhing. I've seen a deer buck someone after they hit it. It was 2 Indian guys trying to move it off the rode after they hit it. Right in his gut.

So technically does this go under a "Kill Story?"

poor doe im glad ur ok and you can get some apperance mods for free from the insureance company maybe =] good luck man
