A/C Compressor cycling non stop

Hey guys the other day I got a couple cans of freon given to me so I added one to my grand prix. I'm not sure if it needed it or not the a/c always worked good I just wanted to try to make it a little colder. So I hooked the Guage up to the car and it took a few seconds to get it hooked on there and I could hear the freon escaping from the lines while trying to hook it up, but I'm sure not that much really came out. But anyways, ever since I added the can of freon the a/c hasn't been working right it will be cold for a second then hot off and on. Today I opened the hood and noticed the compressor kicks on and runs for maybe 1 second and then turns off for 3 or 4 seconds, it just keeps cycling on and off like that. What could I have done to the system? Did I add too much? Sorry I wanted to ask before I did too much research incase I don't find out anything because I don't have very long to fix it before my wife needs to take it. Well anyways, thanks for any input that anyone has to offer!?

it almost sounds like you ran low and need more in the system. also dont over fill it you may have slow leak. before you add any make sure you have a gauge that tells you the pressure in the line.

Ok thanks. Yeah I hooked the Guage up after I let pressure out and added a little more freon the pressure risen up to the red and the compressor started cycling again so I let more out and it went back to normal again.
