99 gp gt climate control problems! Help!

I have a 1999 grand Prix gt coupe with the climate control that has the digital readout anyway today I turned the driver side up to 75 because my fiance was riding passenger and she wanted 60. When I turned mine back down to 60 it says its on 60 but its still blowing warm air as to the passenger side blowing ice cold. Any ideas??

Theres a couple actuators under the dash that commonly fail. Do you hear clicking sounds or sucking noises? Part of that is vaccum operated as well. I'm not very good at fixing it but I have two cars like yours that both work OK even though I do have the strange sounds behind the dash lol. Try searching if nobody else can help.

OK thanks guys in the post you directed me to a person said they switched the passenger and driver actuator to see if that was actually the problem. Does that work?

mine has been out for a year. i have to reach under and flip it by hand during the season change. I really should do it tomorrow since its cold again.

Wait so is there a switch I can flip that would set it to cold manually cause I don't plan on using the heater ever even the winter in az usually in the 50's

remove the actuator and theres a little knob that the actuator turns, one way is hot the other cold, it only moves a little bit, maybe a 1/2 inch worth of turning either way. so dont try to crank on it.

mine used to turn back its self so i turned the actuator to cold or hot turned the knob to match and put it back on with no screws nor plugged back in.

believe it or not, you can get a cel light from the actuator being unplugged lol happened to me before. clear it and its gone.

OK I mean I can probably just replace the part pretty cheap but it sounds like that could be another way to test if its the actuator that's faulty. Thanks Scotty much appreciated. :)

new they run around 50 iirc. junk yard is nice and cheap.

i have no yards near me, why i went with the turn it back and fourth for so long.

Well I have yards near me that have some Grand Prix's but I can't find a coupe so as long as the actuators are the same for both the coupe and sedan I should be ok I really need to get the cup holder assembly to anyway.

OK status update I was just in my car again and it looks like the passenger side air also won't change its air temp the digital read out will say its set at 90 but its still blowing the same cold air?

you trying for heat to work? could be a air bound heater core.

when the car is all warmed up touch both heater core hoses if one is cold flush the core.

I just flushed the whole system 2 weeks ago. In short the driver side is stuck hot and passenger side is stuck cold no matter what temp I turn the dials to on driver or passenger side the temp does not change

long shot, but have you had the battery unhooked at all before this happened? if so try to unhooking it again for 15 minutes or so see if that resets them.

I had it unhooked probably a month ago. Also just to give some extra info occasionally even before all this happened sometimes the display would flicker also my low coolant light keeps coming on intermittently but I'm not actually low on coolant

So just had to take the car out real quick and everything is functioning normal again. I did not unplug the battery yet. Electrical??

low coolant light is a dirty coolant sensor, its in the side of the rad near the cap, take the pass side head light out to see it better. if you unplug it, the light will never come on again.

either your climate control unit its taking a crap or your actuators are on the fritz. we've seen the cc be bad a hand full of times here.

How likely is it that both actuators go out and then start working again at the same time haha? Probably electrical right?
