99 GP gear shift stuck

Howdy. Mechanically challenged dad needs help. 99 Grand Prix Shift lever stuck. Vertical (Yellow) plastic piece inside shifter won't move. Fuse not blown. Popped the console but don't know where to go from here... When I turn the key the little button pops out on passenger side like (I assume) it's supposed to....It's a shame to be this ignorant at this age. Any education you can supply greatly appreciated
 


theres a shift lock solenoid on the shiftier these go bad, on the shiftier, theres a spot you can zip tie to keep it from locking, but it will come out of park when the car is off.

pretty sure most people just find a whole shiftier at the junk yard because the lock solenoid is part of the shiftier or some crap like that.
