98 Transmission swapped into a 2000 GTP

So since I never looked in here before I learned the hard way about the cooler line fittings.

Now I need a fix, I'm thinking I'll go to autozone and buy transmission cooler lines for a 98 car and just use them instead of the quick connects at least for the feed line, I don't have the car here with me to look at where it hooks up to the radiator, is there any difference on that side of the line or are they all the same.

Need answers ASAP so i can order the parts thanks.

I did this exact swap and here is what I was told from Dave at triple edge performance...

"The actual code on your 00 transmission is a "0BCB" and shows having a 3.29 gear ratio
The code for the 99 car, which is actually a 98 transmission, is "8THB" and also has a 3.29 gear ratio.

The number designates the model year of the car it was originally made for. The 8THB transmission will work in your 2000 car BUT the cooler line fittings are different and this requires you to use a 98-99 threaded end style cooler line that connects to the transmission as the 00+ case has a different thread size for the feed line that wont work in a 98 case. You could swap fittings on the return line, which is the smaller of the two fittings, and use your stock cooler line."


Hope this helps. I just bought the correct lines for a 98 trans from the dealer and installed them. And yes, the end the goes into the rad. is the same. It's the fittings on the trans. case that are different, as you have found out.
