98 GTP making noise by supercharger?

OK, Havent been here in a while. I have a noise coming from what seems like the supercharger.

Now having read about the snout coupler, I am thinking that it may be the culprit.

I have also read reports about the flywheel being two piece and developing cracks in it, which makes it rattle and possibly sound like its coming from the motor. (but I doubt thats it).

I have listened real carefully to the supercharger snout, and it seems like it is definitely coming from there.

It sounds like the sc is grinding up rocks.

Now, I also have seen on here a gent selling the snout rebuild kits, and the coupler by rolling performance.

Mainly, I am looking for verification that the sc is probably the issue, and would love some feedback on rolling performance before I drop the cash.

Thanks all.

I had noise in the area of the supercharger so I ordered a new coupler up. Waterpump went bad, changed it, noise gone. It took about a week and a half from when I first noticed the noise to having the pump shaft seize and shread the water pump.

Thanks everyone.

Now the next question. Should I do the whole snout rebuild or should I just replace the coupler? Car is very well taken care of, has 134K on the clock though.

How long do the bearings last?

I know that since I will have the snout off anyways that it would be a good time to replace them, just looking for some words of wisdom.

Thanks again

Craig

I was told by many of the guys on here that the coupler usally goes bad because its not very durable. I wouldn't think you would need to do a snout rebuild..My car is a 07 and I replaced mine with like 45K miles on it. You should be fine but I would for sure ask Bluegtp91 or Bio and there is alot more people who could give you advice too!:th_thumbsup-wink:

Just replace the coupler...get one of those bitc*in green ones from ZZPerformance and new GM Oil...then you're good to go.
