Hey all,

As I was pulling into my parking lot after getting groceries, my transmission died. It doesn't shift into gear when in Drive, but will shift into 1st, 2nd, and reverse just fine. Fluid level is good, so I 'm guessing its needing a rebuild. Car only has 103,000 miles. My only real question is whether it is worth getting a rebuild, or trying to find one from a junkyard. I am always sceptical about buying parts from a junkyard as they can sit for a while which isn't good for seals and stuff, plus I could be picking up a part that is in just as bad of shape or close to it. So in your opinions whch is the best bang for the buck? What price ranges should I be comfortable with when getting quotes?

Your forward band broke. Best bang for the buck would be to get a junkyard trans and either save for a tep rebuilt tranny down the road or rebuild your current trans with the upgrades. ie. Hardened 4th gear shaft, input shaft, etc..

Lol my friends just did that 2000 gtp with 85k on it did a forward band replacement in the car and upgraded the 1st gear clutches and added 2 extra shims in second while it was down also did the gxp chains new gaskets and a transgo kit all and all about a week down which includes waiting on part for tep but thing works great now
