98 grand prix se key stuck in ignition

Please help, as described in the title, the key is stuck in the ignition and is draining the battery. It wont come out so we have to turn the key all the way back to the aux. position. It has a remote keyless entry so we jsut lock it up at night and leave the key in there. Its been this way for a few months now and i cant stand having to boost it in the morning while my mom goes to work and hearing she needed to get boosted at work to get home. PLEASE HELP!!! what is wrong?

The first problem is you didn't use the search button. You would have found your answer. It is probably the park lock solenoid. It is a white solenoid in the column by the ignition switch. Take it out throw it away then your key will come out when ever you want it to.

x2! throw that shyt out! but for now there is a hole on the bottom of the steering column you can stock something in to manually release your key...

the dinging is your car letting you know the key is in the ignition so yes :th_laugh-lol2:

When I worked at a Pontiac dealer we saw this problem all the time. The solenoid built into the shifter was bad. You had to replace the shifter to get the key release solenoid working properly again.

take down the plastic peice at the bottom of the steering wheel where the key is. You are going to see a plunger like thingy near the key. push it inward and turn the key to the off position and move the key. my car did this all the time. just tie a string around the plunger peice to make it stay inward and put everything back and the key should come out all the time
