98 Grand Prix GTP fuel delivery issues?

Hey guys, I joined up hoping to get some help and information.

I was driving the car fine all day yesterday, ran great. I go to leave for a dinner, drive 2 miles and the car stalls going down a hill, would crank it and it would start for about 5 seconds then conk out.

2.5 hours later I had it towed.

I figured it was a fuel delivery issue, so I started from the cheapest fix, which was the fuel filter. The filter was clogged, and i blew alot of black stuff out of it. I replaced it.

The car starts, and will idle for awhile, but it almost sounds like its missing, the air filter also makes a louder than usual sucking noise, if leave it idle too long, it'll bog down and die, if i attempt to drive it, it has no acceleration, it'll eventually die down after a few minutes.

When revving the car when i start it, its fine. But then it will bog down and die, no matter if im on the gas or not.

Fuel pump? Something else? Im a litte lost and help is GREATLY appreciated.

Any SES lights? Sounds somewhat like your CKPS is going out/bad (Crank Position Sensor)

Any autoparts store or anyone with a scanner/tuner can check your OBDII codes and see if it has or is currently throwing a code.

If that doesn't show anything, I'd check all your grounds to make sure they are good, then check your fuel pressure at the fuel rail.

No lights on. Tomorrow im going to take off the quick connect fuel line and start the car and see how much fuel it's spitting out. Would a video help anyone?

Try unplugging the MAF and starting it, see if you can drive it without it wanting to kill but just don't mash it.

I wouldnt say it's a crank sensor as that would really do what he is describing.

Think it could be a MAF issue? I just replaced that about, hmm, maybe 2 months ago.

It just seems like the fuel pump is dying, but not completely. It'll pump fuel in initially, then cuts out. Im going to check today, ill update with a video too. Thanks for the suggestions.

A 98 GTP, will run for 5 seconds.. This is usually a fuel pump resistor

Try this.. if it runs, it's the resistor
