Need help just put a 99 malibu 3.1 in my 98 grand prix and cant get it to start. The starter is brand new. It has spark and fuel. Still wont start. Please help

make sure the vac lines are all hooked up. and the plug wires are on right.

will it pop, buck, back fire? any thing at all? or just a flat crank?

you may want to pull the plugs out, see if they are wet with gas. if soaked it wont fire up. if they are wet. pull all the plugs crank the engine over a bunch of times to air out the cylinders, put the plugs back in try it again.

I know this is gonna sound like a stupid question, but why waste your time on a 3100? I am sure you could have gotten a 3800 and a pcm for pretty cheep.

I do know the guy who sold me the motor is a good mechanic. I have not touched the motor other than to hook up fuel lines and connectors.

The oil pressure warning switch is the only thing im trying to get put in..the hole was plugged with an allen screw. Could that cause it?

dont think so.

it maybe best to call the re builder guy for help. stuff like this is rather hard to figure out with out the car in front of us. it must be some thing easy tho.

all your grounds are hooked up right?

you try a shot of starting fluid in the TB yet? maybe its not getting gas? when they crank dead that could mean its got no fuel.

carb cleaner will also let it fire up a bit if you dont have starting fluid.

im gonna go out on a limb and say you have no spark then.

how did you check for spark? you said it has spark didnt you?

Yes the guy who sold me the motor came by to check it..he had a spark tester..my battery was to low for him to scan anything After that. Battery is fully charged now
