I have recently swapped a 99 buick park avenue ultra l67 motor/trans into my 98 GP GT used my l36 harness, spliced the wires for map sensor an got everything ready all im lacking is a pcm. My question is what pcm will be a plug an play deal for what i have.

I have also been told but not sure if its true that if i was to have my vin programmed into a l67 pcm that it will change the l67 pcm settings back to the l36 settings is this true?

Thanx for any help!

You can have a someone program your vin into a ecu but it will set that ecu into what you computer was set as for what the car came with in from the factory . Someone will have to go through all the files and adjust them .

I ran into this problem when I did the swap you did . I ended up getting a friends vin number off of his 2000 Gtp and had a company program that into a ecu so that I could at least have a stock Gtp file .

You could also maybe find a 98-02 ecu from a junk yard out of a Gtp and slap that in .

I was thinking about just getting a used pcm from a junk yard like you mentioned but zzp's pcm isnt all that expensive either. i will prolly end up with a salvaged gtp's pcm should still go through inspection as long as i dont do it myself they shouldnt think im trying to clean scan it lol

just checked out zzp's site an looked at the 1.0 pcms like you rec. erik. that will deff be where i get my pcm from thanx for the advice
