97 L36 Acceleration Problems

Hey everyone my fiance has a 97 l36 and i drove it the other day. but when accelerating the car its really slow that catches up after a while. when i looked in the engine bay the the throttle body grommet that connects to the air box was completly melted. i replaced it and didnt have any problems for the time being. but when she drove it the next day she was having the same problems. I have yet to check the fuel system to see if maybe she has low fuel pressure or maybe back pressure test the exhaust system before the cat to make sure its building up enough pressure. does anyone else have any ideas on what else it could be. let me know thanks.

It could be the cat even without an ses. I just had a clogged cat and i didnt get an ses. Remove the o2 sensor that is on the rear manifold before the cat and run the car. If it runs better then the cat would be your problem as the new hole will allow the backed up exhaust to escape
